An Adventure Filled Day
That Brought Nothing Mild
Such a sweet, caring and beautiful child
The morning came and brought your day so wild.
There’s much to do and learn even more
Your day will be far from a bore!
Getting the right start to the day
Your mommy makes a breakfast buffet.
With fruit and eggs and pancakes too
Going hungry you just won’t do!
Now it’s time to pick what you will wear
After getting dressed, you’ll do your hair.
Then comes time for you to play
While mom starts her chores for the day.
“We can’t forget to bring this tote.”
It’s time to put on your shoes and coat
Skipping along you two go out the door
It’s time to run errands and shop at the store.
All buckled up, safe and sound
You are ready to drive around!
The first place to make a stop
Is at a bank on the hilltop!
On your way to drop off the mail
The car tire runs over a nail.
The two of you make a pit-stop
At the monstrous tire shop.
The nice young man fixed the broken tire
You head to lunch and drive by a fire.
Bright lights are flashing and sirens roar
As the Fireman runs out the front door.
In his arms, what does he hold?
A child - who’s maybe a year old!
Continuing past the busy street
You find the restaurant where you eat.
After eating a hearty meal
Your mommy then pays the bill.
Now it’s time to head to the store
Where you buy groceries galore!
Driving now, down the familiar road
The car is full of bags to unload.
Once everything is put away
You and mommy get to play.
Crayons and paper and scissors and glue
A treasure is created for ‘you know who.’
As you sit and patiently wait
Your dad comes through the front gate.
You wait by the door to show your art
As soon as he enters you melt his heart!
Mom gets up with a dinner to cook
While you and dad read a short book.
Once supper is ready to eat
You sit at the table in your seat
The mountain of noodles covered in red
Is perfect for dipping your garlic bread.
After helping Mom by clearing the glasses
A sweet treat is served, covered in molasses.
It’s time now to start your nightly routine
Beginning first by getting nice and clean.
Mommy runs water in the bath tub
Bubbles galore make for an easy scrub.
You get dry when you are done and clean
And put on your pajamas that are green.
The next thing to do is brush your hair
And clean your teeth so they have glare.
Mom and Dad come tuck you in bed
And give you a kiss on your forehead.
“Take all the time you need to rest
Tomorrow’s day will be the best!”
“The weekend is here and it’s time to play
Tomorrow we’re headed to the big blue bay.”
If you thought today was crazy and wild
Expect your weekend to be nothing mild.
Dreams of adventures fill your head
While you are snuggled safe in bed.
Tomorrow brings an early rise
And much fun under blue skies.
We love you dearly, sweet child of ours
May the angels watch you from the night stars.

An Adventure Filled Day
The Moments Shared
Splish Splash the water splattered
Flying from the high top fall
Down to the ground it pattered
Where we had a ball
We spent the early day
Enjoying the serenity
Where we could laugh and play
It rejuvenated our identity
A day relaxation and rest
For this mom and son duo
Is what was needed best
For this mother surely did know
The memories created
The time well spent
Left us both elated
To a great extent
The Island I choose to be.
Each is an Island
Some large, some small
Some find waves crashing hard
Another sees the ocean’s soft ripple
The storms of life can cause such damage
Beating away the gentle shores of the island
Forcing each to learn a special art
Survival ~ what a skill to know
Some will fade away ~
Turning ever so desolate
With gray skies always close
Feeling so alone and never knowing
What tomorrow will bring
Always fearing that the bad will present itself
Others still begin to flourish
They see the storm as an opportunity
The chance to change and grow
While facing the troubles around
The rainbow begins to show ~
Flowers flourish and grasses grow
Knowing and having faith
Remembering that the storms are only lessons
Learning how to adapt and finding ways to grow
Changing with the times ~the only way to go
The island shines through ~
Each begins to see something special
Something so different about that one island in the sea ~
There’s something different and so unique
In the island that I choose to be.
Ten Fingers, Ten Toes
My Dear Sweet Son;
After such a long and enduring pregnancy that was far from easy emotionally and physically, I finally reached the day you were born. I had been in the hospital since the night before and was contracting continuously. With every contraction, your heart rate would drop and it made me very fearful of your safety. They opted to try to speed the process along, as you were obviously in distress and started me on cervadil at 9 that morning. I walked around and felt increasing contractions in pain and intensity. By around noon, I had decided I needed to get back to my room and focus on your arrival. About an hour later, I was in extreme pain. I wasn’t getting any break between contractions and was watching your heart rate drop below 80 on many occasions. I called for the nurse, realizing that I couldn’t take the pain any longer and requested anything. I had to wait for the doctor to check me, and he struggled as your water sac was literally coming out of me. Two other doctors later, they determined that I was around 7 centimeters and they broke my water, which was filled with meuconium. Your heart rate instantly dropped down to less than 60 beats per minute and they put me on oxygen. I was in so much pain, I could barely even function to tell them what I felt. I was so scared, I just wanted you to be out of me already so I could see you were okay. After trying desperately to figure out what was going on, they finally said it’s time for an emergency c-section. I didn’t contest, I didn’t protest. I was happy to have them finally do something other than leave me sitting feeling as if all hope was lost. They prepped me for surgery, handed me a form to fill out and sign, and within 10 minutes, we were laying in the operating room and they were putting me under general anesthesia. Two minutes later, they had you out of me, and you took your first screaming breath that I didn’t get to hear. My placenta had ruptured and you were no longer receiving the oxygen that you so desperately needed. I was told that you were a light shade of blue when you were born, but so very healthy, and big! They took you to the nursery and cleaned you up and kept you warm while I laid in recovery trying to come out of serious daze. Finally, around 530, they moved me to my room, which was difficult to say the least. I was able to hold you in my arms for the first time and I counted your fingers and toes. As each little finger I counted, my heart was filled with joy and tears streamed down my face. When I got to your little feet that had tortured me for so many months, I was balling at your last little toe when I knew you were perfect - Ten Fingers, Ten Toes.
The months have gone by and the first year of your life is gone. The memories are so vivid in my mind. I sit here now and hold your hands remember the size of those itty bitty fingers that once grasped mine. You have grown my son into an incredible boy. Today I recount the first time I saw your beautiful face, your sweet smell and most of all those ten fingers and ten toes that reassured me of your unique and perfect self.
Forever,
Your Mom
Flames of the Heart
Dim lights ~ casting shadows in the night
Music softly playing a gentle melody
Man & woman ~dancing slowly ~hand in hand
Seizing the moment of perfect passion
They took the chance ~ allowing the fall
Hearts first ~ clothing second
Passionate kisses fill the nights air
Moving closer in one another’s arms
Taking the cues each is giving
They find themselves burning~
Burning all hours of the night
Creating their own sweet dance
Like the sweet gentle flames
Dancing in the wind
Their passion will never end

God Sent Down an Angel
God Sent Down an Angel
"My dear angel, God began. I have a very important task for you. I need you to share your life with a wonderful family on earth. This family isn't like most. You will have very a loving mommy and daddy, grandparents, an aunt and an uncle who you will see all the time."
"But, God, the angel said, I don't want to leave your loving arms in Heaven. I don't want to go down to earth yet. Please, God, let me stay here with you."
My angel, God said, It won't be long before you come back to Heaven to be in my arms again. Your life on earth will be short, but will have much meaning. You will bring this family together. You see, right now, they aren't as close as I would like for them to be. You will do that with your smiles, and laughs. You will meld their hearts together forever.
They will hurt when you are gone, but they will share the pain, and remember all the happy memories they will have with you." "Okay, I will do this for you, and for them, God, just so long as you promise I will come back to your arms." God agreed.
On earth, a family was preparing for a new baby. Ralph, the daddy, Laurie, the mommy, and their children, Jennifer and Bobby, went shopping for a crib, car seat, stroller, and teeny tiny baby clothes. The children helped their daddy build a new room just for the baby. They painted, and wall papered until the room was just right for this little baby.
After nine months, Laurie said it was time to go to the hospital. Jennifer and Bobby wanted to know why their mommy was going to the hospital. Ralph reassured the children, that their mommy would be OK,and when she returned home, they would bring the baby with them.
The children grabbed their over night bag, and went to stay with their grandma and grandpa.Much excitement filled the air. A few days later, their mommy came home as promised, and with her, she brought a new baby brother. Jennifer and Bobby awed over little Jimmy. They could not believe how small this child was.
Daily, the family would get visits from grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Everyone wanted to see this little angel from heaven and take pictures of him. The family began to get closer as Jimmy grew up. They would all smile and laugh that Jimmy began to learn new things, and experience the beginnings of life.
Jimmy showed this family what it means to be a true family. His daddy and mommy, grandparents, aunts and uncles all became closer through the experiences they had with Jimmy. They found the true meaning of family as Jimmy melted their hearts together.
Jimmy would lay down on the floor, on his back, and look towards the ceiling, as if he was watching angels fly above him. Jimmy would laugh and smile, but his daddy and mommy could not see what he was laughing and smiling at.
They finally agreed that there were angels talking to Jimmy. He could see them, and talk to the angels.
One day, God sent down an angel, to remind Jimmy that his time was almost up on earth, and that he would soon be returning to heaven.
Jimmy didn't want to leave his loving family on earth. But, Jimmy knew that when he went back to heaven, he could watch over his family, and he would be back in God's loving arms.Time went by, and one day, Laurie went to go and check on little Jimmy, but had found that he went back to heaven. She was sad. Ralph, and Laurie, and their kids, Jennifer and Bobby, all cried for days because little Jimmy was no longer on earth. He went back to heaven to be with God.
Through all the tears, every one remembered all of Jimmy's smiles, and how he would laugh. They would never forget little Jimmy. The family knew that even though they would never hold Jimmy in their arms again, his spirit would live forever.
All the pictures that were taken with Jimmy were framed, and placed around the house, as a constant reminder of the little angel that God sent down to earth. Every time the family looked at the pictures, they would smile at the wonderful memories caught in pictures.
Little angel Jimmy went back to heaven to talk to God. God looked at the little angel He sent down to earth, and showed him what he did for this family. Together they went through Jimmy's life on earth, and saw how the family changed and grew together.
God said to his angel, "Your life on earth was about sharing love, joys, sorrow, anger, and all feelings that come to a family when there is an angel from heaven. Thank you for bringing this family together. Without you, I could not have done this. You will always watch over this family from heaven, and they will always love you."
"Thank you God, for bringing me back to heaven. I miss my family, but I missed you, too. I will never leave their side." Jimmy said.
God said to little Jimmy, "You will always be with them. You are in their hearts. The memories they have with you on earth, will one day, help them get through the sadness of you not being with them in person."

Sitting atop the widows peak, gazing out deep into the endless ocean, Evelyn longed for the love she shared with John to suddenly reappear in her life. The darkness of the ocean as the moon glistens upon the water seemed to match all that Evelyn was feeling. Wondering now, how she could continue on with her life without him there seemed a near impossible task. The thirty seven years prior had been filled with so much joy, happiness, leaving her filled with memories to last the rest of her life, even though she questioned living until the dawn break. Her children and grandchildren seemed to be the reasoning for staying put on that peak instead of taking the plunge off the roof, into the desolate rocks beneath. She longs for him, she cries and screams out his name, as it almost echoes amongst the waves crashing on the shore. There isn't a star in the sky to wish upon and all she wants in the world is to feel his hand brush across her shoulders as he had done for all those years together. She longs to hear John whisper her name just once more... feeling as though all hope is lost, she buckles, falling to her knees and begins to sob. The tears streaming down her wrinkling face find themselves racing to reach the deck below. Evelyn takes a deep breath and slowly begins to stand once again, clenching to the railing, as she lifts herself off the floor. She's decided, she knows what she must do to end all the pain and suffering that she feels. Raising her leg slowly over the intricately designed iron, she finds her footing and begins to raise the other leg, as preparing to take one last plunge in her life; hoping to find her end in this suffering and be reunited with John. As she is taking one final breath, a voice begins calling from within the home they created together... It was her daughter, and upon reaching the widows peak, she reached out to her mother, offering her a hand. The tears again begin to pour down Evelyn's face as she reaches for her daughter's outstretched hand. questioning which way she should go, her daughter softly whispers, "Mom, please. We need you." Evelyn found her way back atop the widows peak, staring at the dark ocean view. As she gave her daugher an intense hug, the sun began it's beautiful rise, bringing hope once again into the heart of a woman so lost and in pain........
